For any business running commercial vehicles, minimising downtime (i.e. when the vehicle is off-road for repairs and maintenance) is a core objective.  Whether it’s a small construction company or huge delivery fleet – when vans aren’t in use, they’re not earning money.  In fact, they’re most-likely costing money.

Vehicle owners and operators have an important decision to make when selecting parts used for maintenance: they can save a little money in the short-term and buy ‘unapproved’ parts manufactured by third-parties.  Or they can choose genuine parts by the original vehicle manufacturer.

Genuine parts are created by the vehicle manufacturer, specifically for the vehicle model in question.  They are precisely engineered and tested with the other components they work with.

Mercedes-Benz Vans test and refine, measure and analyse, develop and improve parts for their vehicles.  Using these genuine parts and not compromising on quality can extend change intervals and therefore lower cost over the longer-term.

To demonstrate this, we travelled to Daimler’s Technology Centre in Stuttgart, Germany to interview members of their after-sales team and demonstrate why genuine parts are genuinely better.  The live-action footage was combined with 3D CGI to deliver technical explanations in a series of short films.
